What’s Blooming- October 21st, 2014

21 Oct

Can’t believe it’s been so long since I have posted one of these… Got sidetracked and out of the habit I guess.

Today is a blustery but not too bad call day, which around here means it’s not raining, lol. Poured yesterday, was nice the day before, poured the day before that. It’s gotten cold and miserable out most days for gardening. I may like our climate in general, but I really hate cold water down the back of the neck, so weeding in the rain is NOT on my list of favorite things to do.

In general, the sled flowers are petering out, and the fall and early winter stuff is coming into its own. The fuchsias as for the most part gamely soldiering on, a bit bedraggled but mostly still blooming. The dahlias are looking mostly pretty nice, except I didn’t allow for floppage. The salvias are doing beautifully now for he most part. And the Cupheas are their usual cheerful selves. Hummers are buzzing around, I think we have our winter contingent now. No feeders out at the moment, but that may change soon. Anyway, just the typical fall garden for the moment.
