Skagit Valley Tulip Fields, April 13th, 2014

4 May

It’s been a long time since we have gone up for the Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley. Things have changed quite a bit, there are now only two main growers up there, and things have gotten a lot more commercial for the tulip viewing, but it’s still a breathtaking site to see the fields packed full of tulips! We decided to drive up with our bikes, along with my niece and her daughter, and bike between the two farms. Unfortunately, we decided it was too expensive to pay the entry fee for the second one, so only went into the gardens of one. Still, it was a beautiful day, and a pleasant way to break in our new bikes! It was just under six miles round trip, and flat the whole way. Our biggest concern was the traffic! Bit much of the time we were able to either avoid them, or we were going faster than they were, lol.

As always the crowds were…. Amazing, to say the least. Let’s just say there is a reason I tend to prefer to avoid such crowds, and I’ll leave it at that, lol.

But some of the highlights of the gardens and fields, in case you didn’t get a chance to go, or are wondering what all the hype is about!

That last one is one of my favorites, I just wish my phone took better pics. I really can’t blame the phone though, I just can’t seem to see to focus well enough to take good photos, lol.
