Blooming April 15th, 2013

16 Apr

Already getting behind on these, lol… I actually recorded two other times what was blooming, but didn’t take the time to post them. I’ll try and get better at that. Be that as it may, it always amazes me how fast the list of things blooming can change this time of year. Much of what was blooming the last time I posted is either done, or nearly so, and there is a whole new raft of plants blooming now. And in another week or two, things may well be completely different again!

Anyway, so here is what is blooming now-

Montia perfoliata

Iris japonica ‘Ledger’s Variety’

Barbarea orthocerus

This is more or less in order of where I saw them, starting at the front deck and working my way to the back, rather than try and alphabetize things. No pictures today, forgot to bring my phone with me, lol. The Clematis montana was kind of fudging… the little flowers are starting to open, but they haven’t really colored up yet. Oh, and a couple camas are about to pop. If it had been just a little warmer today I think one or two would have opened. Lots of perennials are starting to bolt- Huechera sanguinea, Campanulas and Delphinium, among other things. The next spate of sunny weather we get should see lots of things popping open. On the down side, the Ribes are just about done. Dunno what the hummers will use if the Lonicera ciliosa and sempervirens don’t start flowering soon… Camas and Delphinium are often favorites of theirs, but they don’t bloom for long here. We’ll just have to see how it goes I guess. Hmm, maybe the Fuchsias will get going early this year.

Happy Gardening!
